Where
is Rosario?
The
city of Rosario is located in the province of Santa Fe, Argentine Republic,
300 kilometers North West of Buenos Aires, being the main upriver port
on the Paraná river (second longest waterway in South America).
Such strategic location led it to become the headquarters of the first
railway in the Argentine provinces (see Historical Review). This
fact eventually turned Rosario into a most important railway centre and
the world´s busiest grain loading port; a title it held for a short
period just before World War II.
The
city has nowadays a population of over a million inhabitants and remain
the head of a thriving agricultural and industrial region, comprising four
provinces with about two and a half million people.
