A
new publication from ARAR:
Practically
from the beginnings of ARAR, the history of the development of the different
railway companies in our city was object of permanent askings, so much
among the integrating of the Institution as of all kinds of interested
in the topic: students, educational, investigating, journalists and
public. Before the lack of a previous work that summarized so wide
matter, as of the first numbers of the ARAR Bulletin was presented a squeezed
review exposing in successive presentations the information with which
were counted in that moment, complemented by useful illustrative maps.
This
work by several years was one of the sources of reference more appealed
by the people; however, while advanced the patient task of investigation
and summary of the material originating from very various sources, was
made evident the need of assaulting an agreed editorial project with the
importance of the approached matter.
During
1998, Angel Ferrer and Carlos Alberto Fernández Priotti began the
preparation of the first draft, and a careful documentation, statistics
and graphics selection; then it was faced the design and confection
of the cartography as well as of related plans, all of which was taking
shape progressively until the preparation around the end of following year,
of a pilot issue that would permit to evaluate the alternatives to follow
concerning the graphic and commercial presentation of the book.
Parallelly,
it began a patient but untiring search of support to make possible the
financing of the project, having account of the limited money resources
that has our Association.
Finally,
during the current year was reached the climactic point of this initiative,
what permitted to finish the process of diagramming and graphic treatment
of the work, what continued the stage of printing and binding, concluding
with full success on past July.
The
fruit of this task is to the sight: a book in size of 20 x 28 centimeters,
printed in 90 grams/sq.meter high-quality paper, with their sheets sewn
to thread and bound with an attractive cardboard lid of 280 grams/sq.meter
with plastic coating. Inside, more than one hundred pages profusely
illustrated with 117 engravings and photographs, 47 maps and drawings and
2 statistic tables that present an overview of the gravitation that came
to have to Rosario the multiple railway companies that it had as a determinant
point within their lines. Complementing the purely local information,
also is included an annex that presents a summary illustrated with the
history of all the railways that had relationship to our city, from their
origins until the present time.
The
first issue of FERROCARRILES EN ROSARIO is a reality. Already
it has been begun its distribution in the principal bookstores of our city,
while was fixed on September 5th 2001 as date for the formal presentation
of the book, act that will be carried out in the Conferences Room located
in the First Floor of Rosario Stock Exchange, Córdoba 1402 from
19:30 hours.
It´s
a desire as of the authors as of the ARAR, to thank all the stimulant show
of support that it has deserved this task, that for the first time permits
to present in wide form, the passionate history of the Rail in our city,
main railway hub of the interior of Argentina.
