From 1948, Argentine Republic began to install trolleybus systems in their main cities, being Buenos Aires the one which counted on the vastest net.  Different lucks ran the different systems, depending in good measure on the friendliness -or not- that were excusing to him the shift politicians.  Of more it is said than in several of the cases, prevailed the animadversion of the public powers to determine the withdrawal of the trolleybuses.  Only Rosario and Mendoza preserved their electrical transportation systems, until in 1989 was added Córdoba city, with a totally new system, that of some way came to concretize the net of that city, so many announced times but never built.  It was as soon as Córdoba installed its trolleybuses thirty years after that Rosario, being the our the last city that sponsored them within national plan of electrical transportation incorporation.

CÓRDOBA
EXPRESO EMIR S.A. (1989 - 1993)
TRANSPORTES ELÉCTRICOS CAÑADENSE S.A. (1993 - 1996)
DIRECCIÓN DE TROLEBUSES - MUNICIPALIDAD DE CÓRDOBA (1996 - 1997)
TROLECOR S.A. (Desde 1998 continuando en la actualidad)
Oncativo St. and Libertad St.- General Paz Quarter - 5000 Córdoba City - Córdoba Province.

The Córdoba city trolleybuses were inaugurated in May 1989, in the framework of an ambitious restructuring plan of the urban passenger transportation, in which also was included the metric gauge railway system that crosses the Mediterranean capital.  The whole works, and the provision of the equipment and vehicles corresponded to the Soviet company “VVO Technoexport” the one which in this way, it delivered the system in operative order to the Córdoba Municipality.  The first ten Uritzky model ZIU 682b trolleybuses fulfilled a part of the tour of the "B" route, among Plaza Colón in the center, until Patria Avenue and Padre Luis Monti, in the city Northeast.
The operation of the system was to cargo of the Expreso Emir company; having disposed among one of their novel measures, that they would be women who driving the trolleybuses.  At once, the trolleybus was earning the preferences of the public, thus recognized by their cleanliness, rapidity and good frequency.
From 1990 began to arrive at Córdoba more trolleybuses, until completing a total of thirty two simple cars and twelve three-axles articulated units.  Consequently, they were being completed the tended of the two remaining "C" and  "A" routes, and being extended the provisional tour of the "B", to the West of the Colón Avenue.  The “A” route was the last in be enabled and until today it could not be extended until his definitive terminal in the University City.
Due to change in the Córdoba city municipal policy, as from 1992 were happened various inconvenient in the system, being the most serious the overlapping of the Diesel bus routes on the trolleybuses itineraries, subtracting him a great quantity of passengers to these last.
This, it added to judgements against the concessionaire and the oversizing of the staff was the unfetter factor for the separation of Expreso Emir S.A. as operator of the service.
The new concessionaire turned out to be “Transportes Eléctricos Cañadense S.A.”, company that as far as she is concerned it did not invest in the committed form, and in whose management were raised serious union conflicts with consequences yet more lamentable: several trolleybuses resulted burned in different attacks.
An attempt of reversing the negative economic situation was established routes combining the terminals of the three trunk routes, something which only resulted in the worsening of the frequencies of the system as a rule.
In January 1996 the Córdoba Municipality intervened the company, for then to develop the system in direct form.  In December 1997, the system was transferred to the Trolecor company, that had formulated an offer to be made cargo of the service, offering to incorporate fifty Chinese-built new trolleybuses.
Since then they were repaired some Russian units and as from February 2000 began to run sixteen Chinese trolleybuses, those which are found in a period of adjustment and optimization.
Nevertheless, the overlapping of omnibus routes continues in the middle of a generalized crisis of the public transportation, and the trolleybuses are not the exception; not being difficult to predict that possibly the Córdoba electrical transportation has a new operator in a future not so distant...

Until high night hours, the trolleybuses were transporting a great quantity of passengers, in their first era of Expreso Emir S.A.  Then, in reason of the overlapping of bus lines, disposed by the Córdoba Municipality, the trolleybuses saw diminished significantly the passengers load, debilitating the original planning of the system and resulting in economic problems that concluded with the rescission of the grant.  The image exhibits a “C” route trolleybus running in nocturnal hours by the General Paz avenue corner with Colón avenue.
